Betty Angeline Barnes Gustafson
November 6, 1924 - June 14, 2015

Surrounded by her children, Betty Angeline Barnes Gustafson, peacefully, passed away on June 14, 2015. She, now, joins the love of her life, her husband, Leonard Gustafson, as well as her parents, Ethel and Aden Barnes, in the hereafter.

Born on November 6, 1924, and raised on a farm near Newell, Iowa, Betty spent most of her life in Iowa. She had lived in Newell, Alta, Arnolds Park, Des Moines, Lone Rock, Thompson, Nashua, Nevada, Ankeny, and Okoboji, Iowa.

Betty enjoyed a successful career in nursing after graduating from the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City. As a registered nurse (RN) and nurse supervisor, she worked in schools, hospital wards, emergency rooms, operating rooms, and retirement homes. After she and Leonard retired to Florida, they lived in Ft. Myers, The Villages, and finally, Miami.

Betty is survived by her four children: Steven Gustafson, of Nashua, Iowa, Mary Walkley, of Miami, Florida, Peggy Mitchell, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Paul Gustafson, of Burlingame, California; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. To the very end of her life, Betty loved her family with all her heart.

To honor that love and to honor Betty, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, the family invites all of Betty’s extended family and friends to join in a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 3:00 PM at The Inn at Okoboji.
