Ing Quang Thi
August 18, 1920 - June 30, 2015Ing Quang Thi, age 94, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. A daughter of Pou Pheung and Thao Hane, she was born on August 18, 1920, in Dienbienfou, Vietnam. In 1945, she married Van So Quang in Laos. Their union was blessed with two children: Mek Escobar-Solis (Quang Thi) and Van Tan Quang. Currently, she was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Her favorite activities included cooking traditional foods, playing cards with her friends, sewing, and gardening. More than all else, however, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Mek Escobar-Solis and Van Tan Quang (Diene), of Denison, Iowa, and Von Luangaphay, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Tony and Lisa Thongvanh, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Patty (Thongvanh) Fairchild, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Andy Boutdarith and Jessica Quang Van, of Denison, Iowa, and Urivon and Jason Luangaphay, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; her great grandchildren: Noah and Scarlett Fairchild, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and one brother, Sang, and two sisters, Bang and Saeng, all in Laos; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Ing was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Van So Quang.
A celebration of life will take place Friday, July 3, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
