Growing up, Ardis attended country school through the 8th grade and then enrolled in the Sac City High School for two years before graduating from Newell School in 1947.
On March 2, 1949, Ardis married Calvin Richard Tuttle at the Randolph Field Air Force Base Chapel in San Antonio, Texas. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Loretta “Lorie”, Mark, Scott, and James.
An active member of the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Ardis served as the secretary of the Ladies Aid Society, a Sunday school teacher, and a Bible school teacher as well as on the Altar guild. A member of the Eastern Star, she held the office of Worthy Matron on two separate occasions. A Grand Representative for the Iowa Grand Chapter to the State of Vermont, she, also, belonged to the Danish Sisterhood, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the NCN Neighborhood Club.

In addition, they took many trips around the United States in their RV. Ardis, especially, had many fond memories of their tour to Denmark and New York City. Very proud of her Danish Heritage, she collected Danish figurines, plates, and angels. Moreover, she treasured the time she spent with family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Loretta “Lorie” Colshan, and Mark (Diane) and James Tuttle, all of Newell, Iowa, and Scott (Lori) Tuttle, of Ogden, Iowa; her grandchildren: Kristin (Brandon) Elsasser; Ryan Siddens; and Aaron (Montree), Jenny, Joel (Berina), and Ross (Alaina) Tuttle; her great grandchildren: Sophia Elsasser; Arabella, Dane, and Liviana Tuttle; and Kevin and Devin Xayyavong; her sister, Elva Jorgensen, of Santa Barbara, California; her cousins: Elise and Merlin Jensen, Eula Petersen, and Miriam Rohlfsen; her brother-in-law, Pete Petrosky; her nieces: Aleta Cassidy, Linda Jorgensen, Anita Peca, and Beth Petrosky; and her nephew, Allan Cassidy; as well as extended family members and friends.
