Gladys Franzmeier Murphy
May 13, 1932 - February 25, 2015

Gladys Franzmeier Murphy was born on May 13, 1932, to Walter and Edith (Beckfield) Franzmeier in Albert City, Iowa. She passed from this life at the age of 82 on February 25, 2015.

Gladys lived in Albert City, Iowa, until she graduated from high school. Then, she married Robert (Bob) Murphy, the love of her life, on January 24, 1953, at Christ the King Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Later, the couple adopted two daughters, Melinda and Mary. In addition to her roles as wife and mother, she enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, playing cards and, of course, spending time with her family.

A member of the Asbury United Methodist Church from 1967 until the Lord called her home, Gladys spent thousands of hours in volunteer service to her community. Not only serving as a driver coordinator, she, also, delivered for Meals on Wheels. She served as president and treasurer for the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and she sponsored children at the Oklahoma School for the Blind. In addition, she helped raise money for the school and answer phones for St. Jude's Research Hospital.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Bob Murphy; two daughters: Melinda Postoak and Mary (Don) Churchill; her grandchildren: Brandi (Bryan) Edelman, Joe Baker, Brett (Erin) Murphy, Erica (Jared) Lewis, Brittney (Keith) Lervig, Ashley Ojeda, and Caitlin Postoak; her great-grandchildren: Taylor, Tristan, and Abby Edelman; Emma Baker; Anthony and Jordan Lewis; and Reagan and Flynn Murphy; and her sister, Dorothy Kennedy.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Frances Lessmeier.

Donations can be made in Gladys' honor and name to the Meals on Wheels.
