Keith D. West
August 3, 1965 - February 15, 2015Keith Darel West, a son of the late Merlin and Leah (Heschke) West, was born at midnight on August 3, 1965, in Cherokee, Iowa. He spent his early years in Cherokee. The family, then, settled on a farm between Alta and Hanover, Iowa. He graduated from Alta High School. He spent the next four years attending Buena Vista College and then served for ten years in the Army Reserves. He was employed by Lundell Construction for twelve years, and also worked as a farm hand.
Keith enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, gardening, canoeing, traveling, and spending time with his friends. In addition, he found great satisfaction in doing construction work.
Keith passed away at his home in Meriden on February 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and several aunt and uncles.
He is survived by his mother, Leah West, of Meriden; two sisters, Yvonne (Kenny) Dodd and Sharon Nicholson, both of Cherokee, and two brothers, Ted West, of Cleghorn, Iowa, and Kelly (Michon) West, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two former spouses, Twyla Angstrom, of Minot, North Dakota, and Pam West, of Fonda, Iowa; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
