December 24, 1942 - January 5, 2015Ruth C. Wienhold, age 72, of Newell, Iowa, died on Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.
Ruth Carol Davis, a daughter of Joseph and Rita (Eichler) Davis, was born on December 24, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Baptized as an infant at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa, she attended grade school in Pocahontas, graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1961. She, then, continued her education at the Omaha Business School.
On July 21, 1962, Ruth married Dennis Wienhold in Omaha, Texas. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Alan, Randy, Rick, and Kim.
As Ruth was growing up, she had a passion for swimming and worked as a lifeguard. She also enjoyed ice skating, cooking, playing the piano, and avidly following the Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved raising exotic animals, especially her deer, antelope, and cats. Moreover, while raising livestock, she and Dennis did a lot of traveling. Ruth always looked forward to these outings where she could be found at craft fairs, parades, and the annual Clay County Fair.
Most of all, however, Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dennis Wienhold, of Newell, Iowa; her children: Alan (friend, Jennifer Borton) Wienhold, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Randy (Patti) Wienhold, of Newell, Iowa, Rick (Paula) Wienhold, of Alta, Iowa, and Kim (Jeff) Sievers, of Newell, Iowa; her grandchildren: Andrew and Molli Wienhold; Rachel, Conner, and Lindsey Wienhold; Zachery, Mallory, Gabriel, and Izabella Sievers; and her brother-in-law, Gary (Elaine) Wienhold, of Claremore, Oklahoma; as well as extended family members and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Vincent and Lavonne Wienhold.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at the Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda, Iowa. Visitation will take place Sunday, January 11, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until the beginning of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in honor of Ruth. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda is in charge of the arrangements.
