Marjorie A Duethman
January 1, 1928 - January 10, 2015

Marjorie Ann Duethman, of Des Moines, left this world peacefully in her home on January 10, 2015, at the age of 87.

Marjorie was born on January 1, 1928, in Falls City, Nebraska, to John and Caroline Schultz. After graduating from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska, she worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. On September 8, 1950, she married Elmer John Duethman in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Fonda, Iowa, for a short time and then to Storm Lake, Iowa, to raise their four children. There, she played an instrumental role in the opening of Faith, Hope and Charity, a home for handicap children. She also loved animals, so they always had a pet or two in their family home. Moreover, with her family, she, always, stressed the value of exercise and healthy eating.

Marjorie graduated from Buena Vista College and from its nursing school in 1979. After she and Elmer retired, they moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked at Fountain West Assisted Living. They, then, moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, where she worked at HyVee as the seafood sample lady. In 2012, they returned to Des Moines.

Marjorie was proceeded in death by her parents; her daughter, Theresa Ann Duethman Woline (Allan), and her grandson, Jared Woline. She is survived by Elmer Duethman, her loving husband of sixty-four years; her daughters, Carolyn Powell, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Denise Duethman Haussler (David), of Coal Valley, Illinois; her son, Gregory Duethman (Kathy), Iowa City, Iowa; her sister, Colleen McCroskey, of Springfield, Missouri; and her brother, Michael Augustine (Cindy), of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for January 15, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, West Des Moines, with a visitation at 10:00 and a funeral mass at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith, Hope and Charity in Storm Lake or Unbound-CFCA.
