Larry Gene Persons
March 6, 1948 - November 24, 2014

Larry Persons, age 66, of Newell, Iowa, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at his home in Newell.

Larry Gene Persons was born on March 6, 1948, in Bigfork, Minnesota, a son of Eugene C. and Murlie M. (Hennagir) Persons. Baptized into the Lutheran faith, he attended grade school and high school in Bigfork, Minnesota. In 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1971. On December 31, 2013, Larry married Janita Persons in Newell, Iowa.

Larry loved spending time outdoors. He, really, enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janita Persons, of Newell, Iowa; his children: Jason W. Persons, of Sioux City, Iowa, Jeffrey G. Updike, of Cherokee, Iowa, and Tamecia K. Persons, of Newell, Iowa; his step-children: Felicia (J.C.) Phillips, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Phillip Douglas, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; his grandchild, Madison Craft, of Newell, Iowa; his step-grandchildren: Kingston and Kinnick Phillips and Bianca Douglas; and his sisters, Deanna K. “Sue” Sinclair, of Kingsville, Maryland, and Kathy L. Fournier, of Aberdeen, Maryland; as well as extended family members and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Murlie Persons.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, November 28, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
