September 2, 1932 - October 31, 2014Bernice (Logemann) Weiland, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Bernice Marita Logemann was born on September 2, 1932, on the family farm near Northwood, Iowa, a daughter of Barney and Martha (Aurdal) Logemann.
Growing up in the Northwood area, Bernice, attended Deer Creek Country School #3. She, then, continued her education at St. Olaf.
Bernice spent most of her life as a homemaker, but she also worked at the Iowa State Employment Agency in Mason City, Iowa, for a few years.
On June 17, 1961, Bernice married Clarence “Bud” Weiland at Deer Creek Valley Church in Northwood, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with a son, Brian.
An active and faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Bernice was involved with many organizations within the church such as the Quilters and the funeral committee. In addition, she served with Bud as the custodian at the church for a number of years. She also volunteered for the Head Start program.
In her spare time, Bernice enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, baking, and writing letters. Most of all, however, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Kenny Logemann.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt, Iowa. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
