Donna B. Scheiber
September 27, 1930 - March 30, 2014

Donna Scheiber, age 83, of Spencer, Iowa, and formerly of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Donna Belle Brugman was born on September 27, 1930, in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Karl and Eva (Olhausen) Brugman. Baptized in the Sioux Rapids Methodist Church, she became a member the same day in April, 1949.

She attended Burr Oak Country School and Cornell School before finishing her junior and senior years in the Sioux Rapids school, graduating with the class of 1948. Next, she worked for Werden Variety, Northwestern Bell of Storm Lake, and Northwestern Light and Power Company as a bookkeeper and cashier in Sioux Rapids.

On December 16, 1950, she married Gene Vincent Scheiber at the Sioux Rapids Methodist Church. They were blessed with six children: Loren, Mark, Sheri, Karen, Scott, and Renae.

Donna worked as secretary at the Methodist Church in Sioux Rapids, part-time in the newspaper office, and as secretary at the Sioux Rapids School for eighteen years. In addition, she served on the church board, taught Bible school, substitute taught Sunday school, and held many offices in Circle.

Donna and Gene retired on March 27, 1992, so they could spend more time attending the grandchildren’s activities and traveling to see family that lived away. After retiring, they also enjoyed doing the activities they had always wanted to but never had time for.

Above all, Donna loved her husband and children. She always put them first, spending time with them and cooking for them. Her hobbies included embroidery, baking, playing cards, and dancing. She enjoyed coffee with family and friends and entertaining. She also liked playing basketball in the driveway with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Loren (Linda) Scheiber, of Des Moines, Iowa, Mark Scheiber, of St. Edward, Nebraska, Sheri (Russ) Hotz, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Karen (Bill) Serangeli, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Scott (Jody) Scheiber, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Renae Scheiber, of Columbia, Maryland; her grandchildren: Lindsay (Courtney) Burk, Rhiannon (Matt) Chizek, Ann Marie (Parker) Day, Lee John (Ashley) Geisinger; Nicole (Brad) Greene, Jeremy (Lindsey) Hotz, C.J.
