Trudy Peterson, age 75, of rural Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at her home.

Trudy Rae Krebs was born on September 26, 1938, in Newell, Iowa, a daughter of Raymond and Vesta (Paeper) Krebs. Baptized at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Varina, Iowa, in 1938, she attended grade school at St. Columbkille’s Catholic School. She, then, went on to attend school in Sulfur Springs where she later graduated.

On April 19, 1958, Trudy married Leonard Peterson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with three daughters: Kari Leslie, Kimberly Jo, and Kelli Ann. A homemaker her entire adult life, she valued the time spent raising her children and caring for her home. An active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, she participated in St. Mary’s Guild as well.

Trudy loved caring for her yard and flowers. She also enjoyed refinishing antiques, embroidering, and quilting. Most of all, however, she treasured her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory include Leonard Leslie Peterson of Storm Lake, Iowa, her husband of fifty-six years; her children: Kari (Mike) Hayes, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kim Peterson, of Mason City, Iowa, and Kelli (Lincoln) Wallace, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her grandchildren: Travis and Nicholas Schacherer, of Mason City, Iowa; Jacob, Maddie, and Gabriel Hayes, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Claire, Max, and Ellie Wallace, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her brother, Rex (Jennie) Krebs, of Sioux City, Iowa; her sister, DeEtte (Don) Graham, of Carson, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Judy Krebs, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and her brother-in-law, William (Carole) Peterson, of Ankeny, Iowa; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vesta; her brother, Sid Krebs; and a grandchild, Daniel Hayes.

Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., April 25, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., April 26, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake.
Interment: April 26, 2014, at the Newell Cemetery in Newell, Iowa.
