Margaret G. Giddle, age 90, of Sioux City, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Margaret G. Bullard was born on January 13, 1923, in Storm Lake, Iowa, a daughter of Francis Edward and Laura B. (Penticoff) Bullard.
Growing up, she attended school in Storm Lake, graduating in 1941.
On December 24, 1941, Margaret married Donald S. Rodgers. They were blessed with two children: Roy and Mary. Donald passed away in 1958. Then, on June 11, 1967, Margaret married Lyle B. Giddle in Storm Lake.
A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake where she was baptized, Margaret served as the church’s financial secretary and deaconess. She also participated in the Naomi Circle for many years.
Margaret had a passion for vegetable gardening. A longtime member of the Buena View Garden Club, she would also make floral arrangements for its annual flower show from the flowers she had raised. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and playing the piano.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter: Mary Morgan, of North Sioux City, South Dakota; her nieces: Pamela (George) Schaffer, of Lake City, Iowa, and Jane Bullard, of Mulberry, Florida; and her nephews: Mike (Domenica) Bullard, of Jacksonville, Florida, Tom (Teresa) Bullard, of Mulberry, Florida, Jim (Alison) Bullard, of New Palestine, Indiana, David (Zella) Bullard, of Independence, Missouri, and Dennis (Faye) Wetherell, of Woodbridge, Virginia; as well as extended family members and friends; and her beloved grand-dog, Poopsy.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Laura Bullard; her first husband, Donald Rodgers, who died in 1958; her second husband, Lyle Giddle, who died in 1987; her son, Roy Robert; her sister, M. Jeanette Kambak; and her brother, George Bullard.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
