Emma Lucille Saddoris, age 106, of Newell, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.
Emma L. Henrich was born on June 3, 1907, in Douglas Township, Sac County, a daughter of Charles and Emma (Paeper) Henrich. Baptized at the Galbraith Methodist Church south of Newell, Emma attended grade school at the Douglas Township School in Sac County. On January 31, 1934 Emma married Lawrence Saddoris at the Christian Church in Sac City, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Darvin Dean and Marva Jean.
A member of the United Methodist Church in Newell for most of her life until its closing, Emma, then, transferred to the First Congregational Church in Newell.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker, Emma cherished her visits from her grandchildren and their families and was always interested in their school activities. She also enjoyed tending her flowers, gardening, crocheting, cooking, playing cards, and visiting with family members, neighbors, and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Darvin (JoAnn) Saddoris, of Carroll, Iowa; her grandchildren: Linda (Alex) Erickson, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Melody (Kris) Kenne, of Papillion, Nebraska, Carla (Rick) Luquette, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Larry (Margaret) Saddoris, of Jefferson, Iowa; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn (Wilbur) Henrich, of Newell, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Saddoris; her parents, Charles and Emma Henrich; her daughter, Marva Jean; her brothers: Carl, Ernest, Milton, Glen, Elwood, William, Sr., and Wilbur; and one sister, Gusta Myers.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., October 28, 2013, at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Newell, Iowa.
