Vicki Medici, age 67, of Newell, Iowa, died on October 29, 2013, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell.
Vicki Irene Layman was born on July 7, 1946, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Dean and Helen (Kallendar) Layman.
Growing up, she attended school in Newell, graduating from Newell Providence High School in 1965. She, then, attended college before working in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After moving to Granger, Iowa, Vicki met, Dennis Medici, her future husband, whom she married on February 14, 1970. They were blessed with one son, Troy. In February of 1973, the couple divorced.
After moving back to Newell, Vicki worked for the Good Samaritan Society as a housekeeper for thirty-seven and a half years. Passionate about her work, she also took care of the bird aviary and planted flowers on the patio for the residents to enjoy. A very compassionate person, she loved caring for others. She also treasured spending time with family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Troy Medici, of Newell, Iowa; her brother, Rick (Lela) Layman, of Altoona, Iowa; and her nieces; as well as extended family members and friends.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Helen Layman, and her grandparents.
Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m., November 03, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell, Iowa.
