Phyllis Ann Kolbe, age 71, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Phyllis was born on February 22, 1942, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Charles and Ruth (Briggeman) Zemke. Baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Newell, she graduated from Newell High School in 1960.
On October 14, 1962, Phyllis married Eldon Kolbe at the Newell Methodist Church. They enjoyed fifty-one years together and were blessed with two children, Dave and Sara.
A wonderful wife and mother, Phyllis lovingly cared for her family and home. She enjoyed reading books, taking care of her cats, and sewing. As a member of the United Methodist Church, she was active in UMW and was known for her bars. Universally loved, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Eldon; her son, Dave Kolbe, of West Des Moines; her daughter, Sara Kolbe, of Marshalltown; her granddaughter, Natasha Kolbe, of Marshalltown; and her sister, Sandi Dilworth, of Sac City; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Zemke.
Visitation: Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m., October 30, 2013, at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City, at our new location 1120 W. Main St.
Funeral Service: Thursday, 10:30 a.m., October 31, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, Sac City, Iowa.
