Veronica Dean, age 87, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
The daughter of Edward and Helen (DeBates) Lingard, Veronica Letha Lingard was born on December 22, 1925, in Armstrong, Iowa. On March 7, 1926, she was baptized at St. Mary’s Church in Armstrong.
On May 8, 1946, Veronica married Lynn Harold Dean in Jackson, Minnesota. They were blessed with eleven children: Jim, Helen, Veronica, Gary Lynn, Marcia, Beverly, Kim, Tim, Terry, Lori Ann, and Dorene.
A housewife for most of her life, Veronica proudly made her home a warm and comfortable place for her family. She, also, worked for the Hamilton Law Firm and the Storm Lake School District. She enjoyed writing poetry and journaling on a daily basis, crocheting, baking angel food cakes, spending time tending her rose gardens, playing BINGO, doing word searches, and participating in the Dinner Date program at the Storm Lake Senior Center. Additionally, she loved her dog, “Honey Luv.” More than all else, however, Veronica loved and adored the members of her family and cherished spending time with them. Remembered as a woman who always had a smile to share, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Jim (Connie) Dean, of Spencer, Iowa, Helen Burroughs, of Sioux City, Iowa, Veronica Eilenfeldt, of Mesa, Arizona, Marcia (Larry) Pepper, of Johnston, Iowa, Bev (Bob) Jones, of Eldora, Iowa, Kim Dean, of Mesa, Arizona, Tim Dean, of Spencer, Iowa, Terry Dean, of Newell, Iowa, and Dorene (Dan) Ehlers, of Newell, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jamie Dean; Jeffery, Michelle and Melissa Burroughs; Gary, Denise and Wade Newcomer; Heather Pepper-Geiger; Sunshine Dean-Huisman, Shiloh Dean; Kory Dean, and Niki Dean-Anderson; Jordan Dean; Shannon and Adam Dean; Ryan and Jenny Ahlers; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Louis (Shirley) Lingard, of Bear Valley, Wisconsin; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Veronica was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Lynn Harold Dean; an infant son, Gary Lynn Dean; a daughter, Lori Ann Dean; and a grandson, Craig Ahlers.
Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., September 22, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., September 23, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
