Mary A. Lind
March 15, 1937 - August 13, 2013

Mary A. Lind, age 76, of Albert City, Iowa, died on August 13, 2013, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Mary Annette Fredrickson, the daughter of Clifford and Mabel (Carlson) Fredrickson, was born in Albert City, Iowa, on March 15, 1937. She lived her youth in Albert City and graduated from Albert City High School in 1955. She, then, attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, for one year before completing her education at the Swedish School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and becoming a registered nurse.

Mary married Karl Lind on September 24, 1960, at the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City. They were blessed with three daughters: Karla, Klarice, and Karen.

Mary accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl. A loving, sacrificial wife, mother, and grandma, she loved the Lord with all her heart. Partnering with her husband, Karl, she worked hard through the years on the farm and at the Pleasant View Nursing Home as a nurse. Always a very warm and welcoming woman, she also loved to laugh.

Mary enjoyed traveling with her family and, then later, with Karl. In various capacities throughout the years in her church, the Albert City Evangelical Free Church, she became involved with the Sunday school classes, nursery, choir, and WMS as well as with a variety of youth group activities. She also played an active role with Mary Ann in the early years of the food stand at the Threshermen’s Show.

Mary loved to sew. She made her own wedding dress as well as one for each of her daughters. In her spare time, she could be found reading a book, going to watch the kids play in sporting events, and following the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. In her later years, she loved to hear her grandchildren sing and play their instruments. During the last four years of her life, she was loved and cared for by the dear staff of the Albert City Pleasant View Home.

As her health continued to fail, Mary’s love and faith in Jesus sustained her. When she couldn’t talk anymore, the joy of the Lord was still evident in her smiles, laughter, and clapping. Now, she is rejoicing with Him in Heaven.

Mary’s family will always love and cherishes her life. They include her husband of fifty-two years, Karl, of Albert City, Iowa; her daughters: Karla (Jon) Brown, of Brandon, South Dakota, Klarice (Eddie) Arguello, of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and Karen (Lee) Shervheim, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Joe, Steve, Mark, and Ethan Brown; Sarah and Kari Arguello; and Daniel, Andrew, Sam, Katie, Annie, Emie, and David Shervheim; and two brothers: Lowry (Mary) Fredrickson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Curtis (Dian) Fredrickson, of Eagan, Minnesota; as well as many other special relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mabel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 16, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City where the family will be present the entire time. The Sliefert Funeral home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Blessed be the memory of Mary Annette Lind.
