Myra Klahs, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on August 20, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Myra Kathryn Rosmann was born on December 4, 1922, in Defiance, Iowa, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Miller) Rosmann.

Growing up, she attended and graduated from a parochial school. Following her high school graduation, she attended Mount St. Scholastics College in Atchison, Kansas, where she earned a teaching certificate in Elementary Education.

On October 29, 1945, Myra married Frank Elmer Klahs at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Defiance. Together, they were blessed with ten children: Nancy, Mary, Frank, Sandy, Debra, Georgene, Karla, Pamela, Jeff, and Shelley.

Myra was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and the Merry Matrons.

Myra continually strove to teach her children the importance of family values, including enjoying special times with family and friends. She taught them how to live life to its fullest through the beauty of giving. At all times compassionate, she was able to anticipate when others were hungry, sad, or in pain, and she made sure they were cared for. She taught her children patience and always encouraged them to explore options before making decisions in life. Her faith permeated all her activities including playing cards, cooking, reading, sewing, gardening, or adding to her bear collection.
