Dorothy Anderson Kabisch passed away peacefully at home in Pasadena, Texas, on July 27, 2013.

Born on a farm in Alta in 1919, Dorothy spoke only Swedish before she began attending school. She graduated from Augustana College in 1941 and passed on a potential career as an operatic soprano in favor of teaching. She retired in 1984 after teaching in Alta, Chicago, Illinois, and Silver Spring, Maryland.

Dorothy had three daughters. The youngest, Sally Kabisch Kizzia, of Homer, Alabama, preceded her in death in 2004. Her survivors include her daughters, Nancy Kabisch Carranza, of Pasadena, Texas, and Mary Ethel Kabisch, of Alexandria, Virginia; her sons-in-law, Tom Kizzia, of Homer, Alaska, and Rito Carranza Muñiz, of Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico, and Pasadena, Texas; her grandchildren, Sarah Fredrickson Dudley, of Pasadena, Texas, and Emily and Ethan Kizzia, of Homer, Alabama; her youngest brother, Raymond J. Anderson, of Alta; her cousins, Ruth and Dorothy Radke, of Alta; and her nieces and nephews, Naomi Anderson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harold Anderson, of Colombia, Missouri, Oren Anderson, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Owen Anderson, of Lansing, Michigan; in addition to many other extended family members and friends. Dorothy was patient, sweet, kind, and adventurous and will always be remembered for her love of family and the great outdoors.
