Ella L. Bravard, age 97, of Sioux City, formerly of Hampton and Alta, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Hallmark Care Center of Sioux City.
Ella Fredericks Bravard was born on August 23, 1915, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Anna Bubke. While growing up on a farm near Battle Creek, she attended a country school. Later, she stayed at home to help care for her eight younger brothers and sisters.
On August 21, 1940, Ella married William “Bill” Fredericks in Grant Township near Ida Grove, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Virginia and Stan. William died on March 27, 1972. On November 6, 1977, Ella married Charles “Everett” Bravard, Jr. Mr. Bravard died October 13, 1986.
Until she moved to the Hampton Health Care Center in December of 2006, Ella was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta, Iowa, for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bill and Everett; her siblings, Elmer Bubke, Irvin Bubke, Irene Thornhill, and Marvin Bubke.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia (Rolan) Waters, of Knoxville, Tennessee; her son, Stan (Sherry) Fredericks, of Sioux City, Iowa; her sister, Helen Piper; her brothers, Glen, Dwaine (Elaine), and Raymond (Bonnie) Bubke; her grandchildren, Laura (Chris-deceased) Piper, Karen (John) Ernst, Matt (Jennifer) Vollrath, René Fredericks, and Randy (Cathy) Fredericks; her great-grandchildren, Danielle (Kraig) Bolte; Jonna (Sam) Heath; Scottie (Mary Collins), Kalin, Brooks, and Maddie Vollrath; and Andrew Zafer; and her great-great-grandchild, Ryan Bolte; as well as four step-children and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Alta with the Rev. Craig A. Cummins officiating. Burial will be at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery of Storm Lake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
