June 23, 1950 - February 10, 2013Linn Grove, Iowa
Emmett G. Lundberg, age 62, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
The son of Ebner and Wilma (Triggs) Lundberg, Emmett was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on June 23, 1950. At the age of 5, Emmett moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, where they resided for eight years. The family, then, returned to the farm south of Linn Grove. Because of Ebner’s health and his subsequent death in 1966, Emmett and Eve took an active role in the dairy farming operation.
On February 15, 1969, Emmett married Linda Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, and to this union five children were born: Tasha, Victoria, Elisabet, Bianca, and Ethan. Following their marriage, they lived in Rembrandt before moving to Holstein where Emmett worked for VT Industries. Next, the family moved to Sioux City where Emmett held various jobs including his employment at Trinity Rail. Later, Emmett made his home in West Palm Beach, Florida, for several years before returning to northwest Iowa in January of 2011. He helped his brother-in-law, Bruce Rusk, with his farming operation until his retirement in June of 2012.
Emmett attended the Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta and enjoyed the fellowship of the church members. He will be remembered as an avid reader, especially of the Wall Street Journal. Emmett had an exceptional memory which made a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Emmett is survived by his children: Tasha (Jeff) Johnson, of Sioux City, Iowa, Victoria (Juan) Acosta, of West Palm Beach, Florida, Elisabet (Treff) DeRoin, of Jackson, Nebraska, and Bianca (Eric) Hilsabeck, of Sioux City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Tyler, Zoe, Liam, Lorelai, Alivia, and Katherine; his great grandchild, Rowan; three sisters: Evyonne (Bruce) Rusk, of Linn Grove, Iowa, Janice Brady, of Pasadena, California, and Bonnie (Carl) Nelson, of Kingman, Arizona; a host of nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Linda Anderson, of Jackson, Nebraska; along with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ethan; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., February 18, 2013, at the Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta, Iowa
