Beatrice Davidson
March 5, 1905 - February 9, 2013

Beatrice Davidson, 107, of Madison, Wisconsin, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 9, 2013.

An only daughter and the eldest of their five children, Beatrice Eugenia Davidson was born on March 5, 1905, in Storm Lake to Roy and Eugenia (LeDoux) Davidson. After graduating from Storm Lake Public School and Buena Vista College, she started a twenty-year career as a country school teacher in Buena Vista Country. At that time, the teachers lived for a month at a time with their students' families. In later years, Bea would often reminisce about some of those experiences. Throughout the years, she enjoyed hearing from many of those former students. A member of the Assembly of God Church in Storm Lake, she played both the piano and organ and also taught Sunday school.

In 1944, she moved to Seattle, Washington, and worked as a shop inspector at the Boeing Aircraft Co. After World War II, she worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney and Fremont Electric. During this time she met and married her husband, Peter Wasylewych. He died in 1967. In 1968, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin, to be closer to her two brothers who lived there.

Bea was very active in the Women of the Moose and also the Eagles Auxiliary where she served as president and conductor of the ritual team. In 1998, they honored her as the "Auxiliary Mother of the Year." She was also a sixty-nine-year member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers and their spouses, Carroll and Loretta, Floyd and Dorothy, Claire and Eleanor, and Roy and Eleanor as well as a niece, Ellen Davidson Lange.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Patricia Davidson, of Storm Lake, Jim and Sandy Davidson, of Burlington, Gordon and Deb Davidson, of Waterloo, Karen and Dale Piercy, of Sioux Rapids, and Greg and Mary Kempfer, of Michigan City, Indiana.

Services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Gunderson Funeral Home in Madison. A family burial service will take place at a later date in Storm Lake.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer or Diabetes Associations.
