Carl E. Sennert, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and formerly of the Rembrandt and Linn Grove area, died November 13, 2012, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Carl Earnest Sennert, the son of Nicholas and Elda (Hoelscher) Sennert, was born in Albert City, Iowa, on December 4, 1921. Baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Rembrandt, he received his education at the Lincoln-Lee Consolidated School, graduating with the Class of 1939.

Carl faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the occupation of Korea, working in the communications division. From February 21, 1946, until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1947, he served with the 20th Infantry Regiment.

On May 6, 1967, Carl married Maudie Mae Burch in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Leslie, Janet, and Dena joined their family. Carl and Maudie farmed between Rembrandt and Linn Grove for many years. In 1986, Carl semi-retired but continued to help his nephew on the farm. In their later years, Carl and Maudie moved to Storm Lake, making their home at Otsego Place.

A member of the Rembrandt United Methodist Church, Carl attended the Storm Lake United Methodist Church while residing here. He was a lifetime member of the Alta VFW. He loved all sorts of mind games and brain teasers, especially the daily jumble puzzle. His grandchildren enjoyed their grandpa as much as he enjoyed them. He will be dearly missed.
