Andrew J. Noethe, age 81, of Sac City, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at the Park View Rehab Center in Sac City.

Andrew James Noethe, the son of Louis and Sybil (Phillips) Noethe, was born in Sutherland, Iowa, on September 30, 1931. He received his education in Spencer, Iowa, and graduated from Spencer High School. He faithfully served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On July 11, 1958, Andrew married Lois J. Rinehart at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with a daughter, Mellanie. The first few years following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Iowa, before coming to make their home in Storm Lake. Andrew was employed at IBP and Hy-Grade while Lois had several jobs. She worked as a bookkeeper for a number of businesses including the Storm Lake High School and Mike’s Lawn Service.

A member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Storm Lake and a bricklayer, Andrew donated many hours helping with construction at that church. A very avid fisherman, he also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards.

Andrews’s life is celebrated and remembered by his family which includes his daughter and son-in-law, Mellanie and Royce Nelson, of Sac City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Justine (Mitch) Decker, of Cherokee, Iowa, and Jacob Nelson, of Sac City, Iowa; his great grandson, Emmet Alan Decker; and two step-grandchildren, Jessie and Jennie Nelson, both of Watertown, Wisconsin; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; his parents, Louis and Sybil Noethe; and two sisters, Marge Cook and Mary Mouw.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
