James "Jim" Klatt
January 24, 1951 - October 26, 2012Jim Klatt, age 61, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 26, 2012, in Sioux Rapids.
James Keith Klatt was born on January 24, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Keith and Crystal Klatt. Growing up, he attended school in Linn Grove and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1969.
On February 12, 1971, Jim married Cathy Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He later married Mary Willeford on March 14, 1992, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Jim treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. Indeed, he particularly enjoyed fishing, camping, and deer hunting as a family affair. In his spare time, he loved puttering in his woodshop.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; his parents, Keith and Crystal Klatt, of Linn Grove, Iowa; his children: Shannon Johnson, of Marathon, Iowa, Jamie (Alea) Klatt, of Laurens, Iowa, Dustin Klatt, of Marathon, Iowa, Todd Hughes, of Denver, Colorado, Jamie (Crystal) Hughes, of Aurelia, Iowa, and Michael (Shelley) Barbour, of Ankeny, Iowa; twenty-five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his brother, Tim “TK” Klatt, of Peterson, Iowa; and his sister, Benita (Lee) Heldt, of Ankeny, Iowa; as well as nieces; nephews; extended family; and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids where the family will be present the entire time to greet friends. The arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.
