Burdette "Bill" Peters, age 82, of Othello, Washington, passed away September 2, 2012, at his home surrounded by loving family.

Bill was born at home in Sac County to William and Bertha Peters on January 11, 1930. He graduated from Sulfur Springs High School and went on to receive a degree in Education. Having served in the US Army during the Korean War, he later traveled back to Korea to attend the fiftith Commemoration of the war.

Bill married Jackie Lawson on July 10, 1960. Subsequently, they homesteaded on a farm outside of Othello in 1966, which is still in operation today. Bill loved farming and teaching. He taught 8th grade math at McFarland Junior High School from 1966 to 1990. Dedicated to the children, he opened his class up after school to any student who needed that little bit of extra help.

A loving, friendly man who will be missed by all who knew him, Bill is survived by his wife, Jackie Peters, of Othello, Washington; his sons, Brian (Soraya) Peters, of Kennewick, Washington, and Tom (Heather) Peters, of Richland, Washington; and his daughters, Becky (Eric) Anderson and Kristi Peters, all of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert (Patsy) Peters, of Ankeny as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Othello on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2 pm. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
