Storm Lake, Iowa -- Rochester, Minnesota

Renae Jesse, age 68, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Golden Living Center East in Rochester, Minnesota.

Jana Renae Lewis, first child of Donald LaVerne and Grace Loretta Boney Lewis, was born on Wednesday, August 25, 1943, at Porth Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized on May 7, 1944, at Galbraith Methodist Church, rural Sac County, Iowa. On April 1, 1956, Renae was confirmed at the First Methodist Church in Nemaha, Iowa.

Renae started school in Newell, later attended Nemaha schools, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1961. In September of 1961, she enrolled at the Commercial Extension School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.

While living in Storm Lake, Renae detasseled DeKalb seed corn. During the summers of 1960 and 1961, she car hopped at the A & W Drive Inn in Storm Lake. She also worked for Drs. H. A. Pierce and K. W. Pierce, O.D., until March of 1963.

In July 1962, she became engaged to Norman Otto Jesse, whom she married on Sunday afternoon, November 18, 1962, at the First Methodist Church in Storm Lake. They honeymooned at the Ozarks in Arkansas. On February 3, 1963, she joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. In March of that year, Norm and Renae moved to their current farm. They were blessed with four children: Brent, Shawn, Darren, and Wendi.

Renae enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, “artzy fartzies,” shopping, doing family genealogy, and collecting Precious Moments. She also enjoyed preparing huge holiday meals and “doing lunch” with friends. Renae treasured her family, especially her grandchildren. All who knew and loved her will miss her cheerful, positive spin on any situation.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Brent Jesse, of Storm Lake, Shawn (Connie) Jesse, of Newell, Iowa, Darren (fiancé, Amy Owen) Jesse, of Storm Lake, and Wendi (Scott) Taylor, of Clarkfield, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Blake, Nate, and Grace Jesse and Courtney, Amber, Grant, Kilynn, Kelsey, Lucas, Ian, and Bladen Taylor; and her sister, Deanne (Larry) Rolles, of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as extended family and many friends.

Renae was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Loretta Lewis; her husband, Norman Jesse; her brother, Rex Lewis; and her stepfather, Joe D. Conley.

Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., July 13, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., July 14, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: July 14, 2012, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
