Margot Patterson
October 8, 1923 – May 16, 2012Margot A. Patterson, 88, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, died May 16, 2012, at Angels' Grace Hospice, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Margot was born on October 8, 1923, in Alta, Iowa, the eighth of nine children of Albert and Anna (Isakson) Carlson.
Following graduation from Alta High School, Margot moved to Storm Lake where she worked in the County Clerk's Office. While in Storm Lake, she met her future husband, Dean "Pat" Patterson, of Marathon, a student at Buena Vista College. Margot and Dean were married on July 10, 1943, in Brookings, South Dakota, where Dean was stationed in the Army prior to his deployment to Europe during the build-up to the D-Day invasion.
She is survived by her children Thomas (Marjorie) Patterson, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Ann (Joseph) Orendorff, of Flanagan, Illinois, Linda (Duane) Bavlnka, of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, Sharyn (Michael) Macier, of Waukegan, Illinois; eight grandchildren (Alec, John, Colin, Ryan, Megan, Tamra, Erica, and Dana) and nine great-grandchildren. Margot is further survived by three sisters-in-law: Doris (Thayer) Patterson, of Alta, Verda Leigh (Marvin Adams) (Leonard) Svoboda, née Patterson, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bonnie (Eldon Carlson) (Eugene) Diepholz, of Highland, California; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, a number of whom still reside in Buena Vista and surrounding counties. Margot was preceded in death by her husband, “Pat,” her parents, and eight sisters and brothers.
Burial will take place at Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek, Illinois, on June 21, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or Angels' Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, are suggested.
