November 11, 1929 - June 18, 2012Norma Delp, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died June 18, 2012, at North Lake Manor Nursing Home in Storm Lake.
Norma June Bice, the daughter of Earl and Minnie (Monk) Bice, was born in Winner, South Dakota, on November 11, 1929. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in May of 1952. She spent the early years of her life in Wood, South Dakota, before moving with her family to northwest Iowa where she resided in Marathon, Truesdale, and Storm Lake. Norma began her education at Marathon and completed her schooling at Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School.
On August 11, 1949, Norma married Melvin A. Delp in Worthington, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children: Paula, Beverly, and Steven. During her married life, she worked at Bomgaars, Buena Vista University, and the Methodist Manor Retirement Home.
Norma was a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. Her special interests included playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, dancing, and bowling.
Norma’s life will be cherished and celebrated by her children: Paula and Steven Briner, of Newell, Iowa, Beverly Delp, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Steven and Koreen Delp, of Alta, Iowa; her grandchildren: Amanda, Austin, Carrie, Gena, Jessica, Meghann, Patrick, Stephanie, and Trenton; her great grandchildren: Caleb, Carlee, Cayanne, Chance, Damian, Grace, Haylee, Hope, Kayleigh, and Lucas; as well as nieces; nephews; and other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin, on October 14, 2009; one sister, Thelma Rimmer; and one brother, Leaburn Bice.
Memorials may be given in Norma’s memory to Parkinson’s Research.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church where the family will be present. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
