Pastor Duane Fahr
June 11, 1947 - May 8, 2012

Pastor Duane Fahr, age 64, of Bloomfield, Nebraska, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Bloomfield.

God in His wisdom and by His power, created the life of Duane Lloyd Fahr, and on June 11, 1947, he was born to Floyd and Martha (Hinkeldey) Fahr of Alta, Iowa. The offspring of Christian parents, Duane was brought to the waters of Holy Baptism on June 22, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Alta.

Having the Holy Spirit at work in his life, Duane stood before St. John's Lutheran Congregation on March 26, 1961, to confess his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Pastor R. M. Lammers gave Duane his confirmation verse, Matthew 18:20: "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

On January 9, 1972, Duane married Julie Grienke, the love of his life. They farmed together in Galva. God gave them three children: DuAnne, Denise, and James.

In the spring of 1983, Duane and Julie left the farm in Iowa and headed to Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, where he studied for four years before completing his Bachelor’s Degree in 1987. Next, the family moved to St. Louis where Duane attended Seminary, graduating on May 24, 1991, with a Masters of Divinity Degree.

He received his first pastoral call to a dual parish in rural Schuyler and Howells, Nebraska, where he was ordained on July 7, 1991. Duane served these congregations until 1998 when God moved him to serve at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Deshler, Nebraska. In 2004, God moved Duane to the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska, where he continued to serve God's people until he was called to his Savior's side on April 21, 2012. The Lord had sent His angels to carry the soul of Duane Fahr to God's eternal kingdom in heaven.

Surviving Duane on Earth to serve our Lord and Savior are his beloved wife, Julie Fahr, of Bloomfield, Nebraska; his children, DuAnne Deremer, and her husband, Curtis, Denise Pratt, and her husband, Bill, and James Fahr; his grandchildren, Ben, Emily, and Thomas Pratt; his sisters, Loretta Kendall, Darlene (Milton) Caboth, and Ardiss (Bob) Galvin; his brother, Loren (Betty) Fahr; his in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends too many to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Martha Fahr; two grandparents; two brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Burial was in the Bloomfield City Cemetery.
