Colleen Johnson, age 70, of Fremont, Nebraska, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died May 1, 2012, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont.

Colleen Sandra Skaren, the daughter of Eldred and Dorothy (Riley) Skaren, was born in Arthur, Iowa, on February 5, 1942. She lived her youth and received her education in Arthur.

In May of 1958, Colleen married Lowell Pattison. They were blessed with two children, Vincent and Denise. Colleen and Lowell lived in the Anthon and Onawa communities where she worked in the food service department of a nursing home and later for IBP in South Sioux City, Nebraska. In June of 1980, Colleen married Virgil Johnson at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. They were blessed with one daughter, Jillian. While residing in Storm Lake, Colleen worked at Hy-Grade, Hy-Vee, and Wal-Mart. In 2010, she moved to Fremont to live with her daughter, Denise.

Colleen found a great deal of enjoyment in many activities including bird watching, doing crafts, sewing, tending flowers and house plants, gardening, spending time on her computer, and shopping.

Colleen is lovingly remembered by her family which includes her children: Vincent, of Bear, Delaware, Denise Boozer, of Fremont, Nebraska, and Jillian Johnson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her step-daughter, LaDonna (Jeff) Brummer, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Chris Carlisle, Marshal Boozer, Skyler Boozer, and Allie Chambers; her step-grandchildren: Amanda Betts and Stephanie Brummer; her great grandchildren: Allana Carlisle, Carissa Carlisle, and Kaleb Crouch; her step great grandchildren: Chloe Betts and Kaden Brummer; her sister, Ardis Brownlee, of Sioux City, Iowa; and her brother, Eddie Skaren, of Arthur, Iowa; as well as other extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; one sister, Joyce McDonough; and one brother, Dennis Skaren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, May 4, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
