Creighton Charles Hanson
November 16, 1946 - February 17, 2005Creighton C. Hanson, age 58, of Marathon, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005, at his home.
Creighton Charles Hanson was born November 16, 1946, at Cherokee to Edward J. and Ethel (Lerdahl) Hanson.
After graduating from Sioux Rapids High School, Creighton served his country with pride in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, during which time he saw action in the Vietnam conflict. He also served in the United States Army from 1970 until his retirement in 1978. For his dedication, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal (1 campaign), the Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.
In 1968, Creighton married Linda Brown. They later divorced.
Creighton was a member of the V.F.W., Cooties, D.A.V., and the American Legion. A faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, he served as head usher and bell ringer. He enjoyed all his related church activities. A people person, he loved socializing in the local coffee shops and driving around to visit friends.
Creighton's loyal canine friend, Blacky, was very dear to him, and he loved every moment he spent with Blacky.
Those left to cherish Creighton's memory include his step-mother, Ardyce Hanson; his sister, Suzanne Mulvihill; his step-brother, Kevin Hanson; his step-sister, Connie, and her husband, Jonathan Pagel; his nephew, Rusty Hanson; his niece, Brenda Hanson; two step-nephews, Blake and Parker; and a step-niece, Mariah; as well as many other family members and friends.
Creighton was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Hanson; his grandparents; and his brother, Brian Hanson.
Funeral services for Creighton Hanson were held on Thursday, February 17, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt with Reverend Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial was in Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. Arrangements were under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Marathon.
