March 9, 1940 - April 5, 2012Geraldine L. Williams, 72, of Cherokee, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at her home in Cherokee.
Geraldine was born March 9, 1940, at Spencer, to Roy and Vera (Rodine) Clauson. After graduating from Marathon High School in 1957, she attended Mankato Business College. Before her marriage, she worked for Sunhomes Manufacturing in Albert City.
On January 9, 1966, Geraldine married George W. Williams at Webb. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherokee. A volunteering at the Cherokee Villa for many years, she had a special heart for the elderly. She enjoyed hiking, roller skating, and music, especially playing the organ and accordion.
Preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Gene Williams, Geraldine is survived by her husband, George W. Williams; one sister, Darlene Weigart, of Storm Lake; two nieces: Doris (Dale) Wiley, of Storm Lake, along with their children, Ryan and Josh, and Delores (Jim) Schachtner, of Storm Lake, along with their children Emily and Jake; one great-great niece, Nevaeh Schachtner; her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Marjorie (Gerald) Goodburn, of Cherokee, Irvin (Opal) Williams, of Cherokee, and Darlene Williams, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m., Tuesday afternoon. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday evening, at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
