Lynn M. Foster, age 84, of Albert City, Iowa, died April 5, 2012, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Lynn Marlin Foster, the son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Fuchs) Foster, was born in Wanda, Minnesota, on February 19, 1928. He lived his youth in the Laurens, Iowa, area and was a 1945 graduate of the Ware High School.

Lynn married Mavis Peterson in Albert City on February 16, 1950. They were blessed with five children: Jeffery, James, Randall, Tammy, and Tracey. Lynn and Mavis spent most of their married life in the Albert City community. Lynn worked for a brief time for Dr. Vegors at his farming operation. He was then employed for twenty-five years at the Wilson Packing Plant in Cherokee, Iowa.

Lynn had many special and varied interests which included attending ball games, gardening, traveling, fishing, and playing cards. He especially liked enjoying coffee and conversation with his friends at the Crossroads. Lynn was a longtime member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Albert City where he was also confirmed.

Lynn’s family will always celebrate and honor his life. They include his wife, Mavis, of Albert City; his children: Jeffery Foster, of Orlando, Florida, James (Nasrin) Foster, of St. Albans, Vermont, Randall (Diana) Foster, of Overland Park, Kansas, Tammy (Ketty) Spiers, of Seneca, Missouri, and Tracey (William) Pickering, of Parkville, Missouri; four grandchildren: Rob Foster, Daniel Foster, Weston Pickering, and Julia Pickering; one great grandchild, Maverick Foster; two sisters: Ardys Hanisch, of Laurens, Iowa, and Elizabeth Stevens, of Ames, Iowa; as well as other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: Donald, Merle, Faye, Dell, and Lyle.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place Sunday, April 8, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
