Paul Howard Sheffield, 93, of Midland, Michigan, died, Sunday evening, March 11, 2012, at the MidMichigan Medical Center.

He was born December 1, 1918, in Storm Lake, the son of the late Ralph and Edna (Hodges) Sheffield. He graduated from Storm Lake High School where he played in the School Band. He also participated in football, basketball, and track and field events. He attended Buena Vista College for two years where he was a member of the Acapella Choir. He, then, attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1941 with a BS Degree in Chemical Technology. Subsequently, he worked for The Dow Chemical Company for thirty-eight years as an assistant Plant Superintendent and later as an Operations Planner.

He married the former Ruth A. Winslow at her family home in Mt. Pleasant on December 12, 1943. They were both fifty year members of The Memorial Presbyterian Church and members of the Choir for thirty years. He served terms on the Board of Deacons and the Board of Trustees. He was also a past President of the Midland Amateur Radio Club, Past President of the Midland Lions Club, and member of the Midland Country Club. He enjoyed music, golf, and bridge. After he retired in 1979, he and Ruth spent twenty winters in Arizona.

Surviving in addition to Ruth, his wife of sixty-eight years are his son, Ronald, and his wife, Amy Sheffield, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; his brother, Gordon, of Grand Island, Nebraska; his sister, Mrs. Helen (Gladwyn) Langer, of Storm Lake; and his grandchildren, Laura and Winslow Sheffield; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, one sister Mrs. Ruth Cunningham predeceased him in January 2008.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home in Midland Michigan. A private burial was held in LaPorte Cemetery.
