Victoria Gutz Christensen, age 93, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Boone, Iowa, and Storm Lake, Iowa, died March 23, 2012, in Houston.
Victoria Louise Gutz, the daughter of Theodore and Louise (Ripke) Gutz, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on August 11, 1918. She attended school at Zion Lutheran School in rural Storm Lake.
On October 11, 1948, Victoria married Robert Christensen at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. They were blessed with a daughter, Teresa, and a son, Theodore.
Over the years, Victoria was a loving and devoted mother, who took pride in keeping her home as a warm, comfortable place to raise her family. She cherished all the time she was able to spend with them.
Her many hobbies included cooking, sewing, and serving with the Lutheran Women’s League. Additionally, she was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas.
Those left to cherish Victoria's memory include her son, Theodore "Ted" (Becky) Christensen, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Gerhardt Gutz, of Storm Lake, Iowa; three sisters: Julie Gutz, of Phoenix, Arizona, Lenore Vogel, of Murrieta, California, and Zelda Morse, of Tucson, Arizona; as well as extended family and friends.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Louise Gutz; her husband, Robert; her daughter, Teresa in 2003; her brother, Norman Gutz; and two sisters, Vera Toney and Pauline Wilson.
Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., March 26, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., March 27, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa.
