Eldon Fred Sorbe, age 86, of Quimby, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center of Aurelia.

Eldon F. Sorbe was born February 11, 1925, in Albert City to Fred and Clara Sorbe. He was baptized on March 15, 1925, at home and confirmed on April 2, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church of Storm Lake. In later life, he married Connie Chicoine, and together they owned and operated a neighborhood bar and grill in Quimby. He was a member of the Quimby Town and Country and an enthusiastic participant of Quimby's Watermelon Days. He loved to travel, counting trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Jamaica and Las Vegas as favorites. His favorite hobbies included fishing, snooker, and, of course, the "long green line" of John Deere Farm Equipment.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn O'Bannon.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Tracy (Ross) Norman and Mark (Kathy) Sorbe; his step-children, Paige (Paul) Harrison, Carey (Jody) Chicoine, Annette (Kent) Hilsabeck, Therese (Les) Hallengren, and Alan Chicoine; his grandchildren, Tim Norman and family, Katie and Ryan Steever and family, Scott and Jessica Norman, Nick and Cali Sorbe, and Adam Sorbe; and his step-grandchildren, Tim and Kari Limbert and family and Mike Koth.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Quimby with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial was at the Elk Township Cemetery of Alta. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta was in charge of the arrangements.
