September 18, 1938 - December 14, 2004Peggy Jo Hughes Mason, 66, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Ellsworth, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at 8:00 p.m. at the Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
She was born September 18, 1938, in Lake City, the daughter of Roy Olen Farmer and Grace Margaret Schwitters Farmer.
Peggy was a graduate of Storm Lake High School. An avid golfer, she was active in Chippewa Golf Club activities in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, for many years.
In 1956, she married Roger Hughes. They operated Hughes Maintenance & Installation, a telecommunications company, from 1966 until his death on June 26, 1992. She was vice president of the company.
Peggy resided in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania, from 1964 to 1998. Then, she lived in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, from 1998 to 2003 before moving to The Villages, Florida, in 2003.
Her husband, Robert George Mason, whom she married in 1994, survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Paula Anne Martin, and her husband, Pete, of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania; two sons, Daniel James Hughes, and his wife, Terri, of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania, and Cory Christopher Hughes, of Las Vegas, Nevada; one stepdaughter, Sheri Lynn Smith, and her husband, Keith, of Elwood City, Pennsylvania; and one stepson, Robert John Mason, and his wife, Dana, of Jefferson Borough, Pennsylvania.
She has six grandchildren, Melissa Anne, Jessica Jo, and Christina Diane Martin, of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, and Amber Rae and Joshua James Hughes as well as Britney Lee Crocket, of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania; three step-grandchildren, Brendan, Robert, and Mason Smith, of Elwood City, Pennsylvania; one brother, Dale Green Farmer, of Dover, Alaska; and eleven nieces and nephews.
