Wendell P. Urban
December 4, 1939 - October 22, 2011Wendell P. Urban, 71, of Cherokee, passed away Saturday morning, October 22, 2011, with his loving family by his side.
Wendell was born on December 4, 1939, to Clyde and Arvilla (Clark) Urban at Holstein. He was baptized and confirmed at Cushing United Methodist Church in Cushing. In 1957, he graduated from Cushing Consolidated School. After graduating, he attended auto body school.
On September 27, 1964, Wendell married Suellen Cheevers at Sioux Rapids. He lived in Storm Lake for thirty years before moving to Cherokee in 1992. For twenty-five years, he worked as an auto body mechanic at Peterson Motors in Storm Lake and then at Wilson Foods in Cherokee for another seven years before retiring in 1990 because of his health. He was a member of the Methodist Church and also the Moose Lodge. As a teenager, he joined the National Rifle Association. Wendell enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting stamps.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Daniel Urban.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Claude Hogle will officiate. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids.
