Ray Brady, age 75, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at his home in Storm Lake.

Raphael “Ray” William Brady was born April 9, 1936, to James and Eleanor (Berendes) Brady in LeMars, Iowa. Growing up, he was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Name Church of Marcus, Iowa. Ray graduated from Holy Name in 1954, the only boy in a class with ten girls.

On October 21, 1967, he married Carol Keffeler. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters: Dawn Marie and Kerri Lynn.

Ray was a member of the United States Army for two years. He worked as a farmer, a salesman for Warren Oil Company, a school custodian, and finally as a painter in high demand for many years. Ray was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over forty years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially golfing and gardening. An enthusiastic bowler in his younger years, he also had a passion for music and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ray cherished all the times he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Dawn (Rob Liebl) Brady, of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Kerri (Vixa) Thongvanh, of Apple Valley, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Grace, Henry, Brady, and Belle; and his brother, Jim Brady, of San Clemente, California; as well as extended family and many friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eleanor; his wife, Carol; one sister; and six brothers.
