June 21, 1918 - May 7, 2011LuVa Freeman, age 92, of Linn Grove, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2011, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
LuVa Schomaker, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Haase) Schomaker, was born in Linn Grove, Iowa, on June 21, 1918. She lived her youth in the Linn Grove area and received her education at the Highview School.
On February 24, 1937, LuVa married the love of her life, Marvin Freeman, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and they were blessed with two daughters: JoAnn and Jeanette. Then, to their amazement and joy, they were blessed with ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
LuVa faithfully worked side by side with her husband, Marvin, on their farm. Remembered by her family and friends as an excellent cook, she enjoyed preparing meals for and spending time with her family and many friends. LuVa was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Linn Grove. She spent the last nine years of her life as a resident of the Sioux Care Center. LuVa never lost any of her spunk, and all those who knew her always knew exactly what was on her mind.
LuVa’s life will always be loved, honored and cherished by her family which includes her two daughters: JoAnn and Roy Farley, of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Jeanette and Tom Flack, of Jefferson, Iowa; her ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; three brothers: Henry, Delbert and Clair; five brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be given in LuVa’s memory to the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
