Storm Lake, IowaLarry McCullough, age, 62, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died March 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Larry Dean McCullough was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Claude “Bud” and Velma (Jarvis) McCullough on June 29, 1948. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Larry attended kindergarten and first grade in New Virginia, Iowa, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1967. He later received an Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Central Community College.
Larry enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1968. He trained at boot camp in San Diego, California, and served on the USS Oriskany until May of 1970. He was in the inactive reserves until 1974.
On December 27, 1968, he married Louise Rohlfsen at the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. They were blessed with one daughter, Jennifer Lynn.
Larry and Louise have lived in Storm Lake since their marriage. He spent most of his life as an auto mechanic. Larry took over his father’s business known as “Bud’s Alignment” for fifteen years.
Larry enjoyed visiting his daughter in Des Moines. He also liked doing yardwork, taking care of his vehicles, grilling, watching NHRA, and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Velma McCullough, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his wife, Louise McCullough, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his daughter, Jennifer McCullough, of West Des Moines, Iowa; his brothers, Steve McCullough, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and David (Joan) McCullough, of Phoenix, Arizona; and his sister, Jane (John) Nielsen of Glendale, Arizona; as well as extended family and a host of friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Bud; his grandparents; and two nephews.
Visitation: 4:30-7:30 p.m. March 11, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
