August 2, 1982 - March 7, 2011Maria M. Pencook, age 28, of Albert City, Iowa, died March 7, 2011, near Holstein, Iowa, as the result of an automobile accident.
Maria Margaret Pencook, the daughter of Frank Pencook and Barbara (Lee) Pencook, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on August 2, 1982. At an early age, Maria moved with her family to Albert City where she lived her youth and received her education. Maria was a 2001 graduate of the Albert City-Truesdale High School. She continued her education at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and completed her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix. Currently pursuing a master’s degree, she was employed at Market Link in Storm Lake, Iowa.
A member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Albert City, Maria assisted with the Wednesday Night Junior High Youth. In school, she had been an active member of the 4-H Club. She loved music and especially enjoyed the music of Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. You could often find Maria on her computer, keeping in touch with her friends on Facebook. Maria also enjoyed reading and communicating with her friends on the phone. She had a compassionate heart and will be remembered by those who knew her as a person who reached out to those living with disabilities and experiencing difficulties in their lives. At those times, her qualities as a caretaker came through.
Maria’s life is honored and cherished by her mother, Barbara (Lee) Pencook, of Albert City, Iowa; her brother, Nathan Pencook, of Albert City, Iowa; her father, Frank Pencook, of King City, California; her grandmother, Marjorie Lee, of Humboldt, Iowa; her aunt, Margaret McKenney, of Humboldt, Iowa; her cousins, Heather and Laura; a second cousin, Landon; as well as other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
May Maria’s life continue to be lived out through the lives of her family and friends.
