August Friedrich, 79, of Alta, died July 9, 1977, at Buena Vista Memorial Hospital. Services were July 12, 1977, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alta with burial in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake.

August Edward Friedrich was born in Sac County. On November 27, 1919, in rural Alta, he was united in marriage with Ida Lichtenberg. They farmed in Aurora, South Dakota, for eight years and then moved to Alta. From 1931 to 1953, they farmed in Maple Valley township. Upon retirement, they moved to their home in Alta. Mrs. Friedrich preceded her husband in death in 1976.

He is survived by two sons, Melvin, of Algona, and Arliss, of Alta; a daughter, Lorraine (Mrs. Henry) Glienke, of Alta; twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren (Alta Advertiser, 7-13-1977).
