Martha Nitzke
September 20, 1918 - April 22, 1969

Martha Nitzke, 50, died Tuesday, April 22, 1969, in Storm Lake. Funeral services were Friday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m. from the Baak Funeral Home in Newell. Interment was in the Newell Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers were Richard Larsen, George Wilson, Bill Hanke, Ted Lilly, Dean Burnett and Tom Renshaw.

Martha Elizabeth Larsen was born September 20, 1918, in Winthrop, Minnesota, to John and Jennie Banks Larsen. She attended Winthrop schools until her family moved back to Newell in 1929.

After she married Victor Nitzke, they farmed on the Nitzke home place in Coon Township until his death in 1961. She moved into Newell and lived there until her death. Martha and Vic were blessed with a daughter, Judy Kay.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Rase, of Warren, Ohio; her mother, Jennie Larsen, of Newell; her brothers, Vernon, of Albert City, and Edward, Kenneth and Charles, of Newell; her sisters, Mildred Ahntholz, of Albert City, Ione Jorgensen, of Newell, Lucille Reidy, of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Jeannette Cook, of Mare Island, California; as well as by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Irene, and a brother, Donald (abstract, Newell Mirror, 5-1-1969).
