April 6, 1898 - March 15, 1979

Reuben E. Ellison, 80, died March 15, 1979, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, March 17, 1979, at the Hitchcock-Smith Funeral Home, and burial was in the Poland Township Cemetery at Marathon.

Reuben Edward Ellison was born April 6, 1898, near Albert City to Carl and Hilda Ellison. He attended rural schools in Buena Vista County until moving with his parents to Minnesota. On October 30, 1931, he married Ruby Kimpling in Montevideo, Minnesota. They moved to Laurens in 1952 where Mr. Ellison operated a blacksmith shop. In 1960, they moved to Albert City, living there until moving back to Laurens in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors include his wife; a son, Milton, of Wilmar, Minnesota; his daughters, Roberta Collier, of St. Paul, Virginia, and Roman, of San Diego, California; three grandsons, three sisters, Ethel Kelly, of Spencer, Esther Cone, of Laurens, and Eva Thompson, of Anoka, Minnesota; as well as several nieces and nephews (abstract, Laurens Sun, 3-23-1979).
