May 26, 1961 - July 19, 2004

Kelly D. Combes, age 43, formerly of Rembrandt, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at his home in Jefferson, Iowa.

Kelly Combes was born in Storm Lake on May 26, 1961, to Tom and Donna Combes. He grew up in Rembrandt.

Kelly, never one to plant roots for very long in any one place, enjoyed friendships with people all over Iowa and in several other states where he lived for a time. His sense of humor, his compassion, his generous nature, and his unique perspective on life drew others to him. Kelly loved with his whole heart. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include his son, Shawn, of Des Moines; his parents, Tom and Donna Combes, of Rembrandt; [his siblings], Kim and family, of Colo, Kent and family, of Hartley, and Kristi, of Marcus; his maternal grandmother, Nina Crane, of Pocahontas, along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Howard Crane; his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Opal Combes; an aunt, Marilyn Combes; and his uncles: Rodney Lee Crane, Harlan Koth and Willis Radke.

Memorial Services for Kelly Combes were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt on Thursday, July 24, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Woody Clauson officiating. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
