Alma K. Blohm was born March 23, 1917, on the family farm at Newell. She attended country schools and worked at various jobs during the Depression. In 1940, she married Don W. Larson at Albert City. They honeymooned touring the western states on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Subsequently, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where her husband attended mortuary school. During World War II, the family lived in Texas, Georgia and North Carolina while her husband served with the US Army. Returning to Iowa in 1946, they settled in Alta, living there until 1951 when they purchased the Williams Funeral Home in Manson. After moving to Manson, they made their home in that community for the next fifty plus years.

In 1959, they built a summer home at Lake Okoboji, which they enjoyed for 47 summers with family and friends. Alma enjoyed playing Bridge and 500, completing her daily crossword puzzles and cooking. She enjoyed watching Monday night football and the Minnesota Twins in the spring. She never missed a Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday nights. During the time her husband resided at the Good Samaritan Center, she spent each day visiting him until his death in 2009. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manson.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie (Ron) Hudson, Titusville, Florida; her son, Ridge (Kathy) Larson, Pinedale, Wyoming; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Mary Blohm, and husband, Don.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manson with the Rev. Stephen Sherer officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Manson.
