Loren M. Ellrich
January 25, 1917 - June 27, 2002

Loren Mark Ellrich, 85, of New Orleans, Louisiana, formerly of Newell and Storm Lake, died on June 27, 2002, in the Meadowcrest Hospital in New Orleans. He was born on January 25, 1917, in Newell, the son of Raymond and Rose (Heilig) Ellrich. He attended school in Newell.

Inducted into the United States Army in 1941, he was honorable discharged in 1945 at the rank of Corporal. Loren then worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a brakeman. He later worked for his brother in the Ellrich Concrete Works in Newell. When it closed, he moved to Storm Lake where he was a Pinkerton Guard at Hygrade.

Survivors include his sisters, Jean White and Neva Grumbine, both of New Orleans, Lousiana; seven nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Loren in death were his parents; one sister, Ruth Ellrich; one brother, Bill Ellrich; two brothers-in-law, Ben White and Merriel Grumbine.

Graveside memorial services for Loren M. Ellrich will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the Newell Cemetery in Newell with Pastor Greg Baskerville officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Newell American Legion Post. The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of the arrangements.
