July 16, 1984 - January 2, 2004

Jeremiah S. Thayer, age 19, of Marathon, passed away January 2, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Jeremiah Steven Thayer, the son of Steven and Melody (Miller) Thayer, was born on July 16, 1984, in Iowa City. He was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. He spent most of his childhood years growing up in the Marathon area and graduated from Harbor High School in Altoona. Returning to Marathon upon graduation, Jeremiah was employed at Hawkeye One in Curlew.

Jeremiah enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends. He also loved spending time with his family who cherished him. He was a very special son, grandson, brother, uncle and cousin and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandmother, Diane Miller; his maternal great-grandfather, David Miller; his paternal great grandparents, Orville Thayer and John and Lorena Obman.

Jeremiah is survived by his mother, Melody Thayer, of Altoona; his father, Steven Thayer, and his companion, Brandi Bunting, of Marathon; his sister, Dawn Thayer, of Altoona; his brother, Devin Hughes, of Altoona; his nephew, Conner Hiatt, of Altoona; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Ann Miller, of Des Moines; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Phyllis Thayer, of Storm Lake; his maternal great-grandmother, Nora Miller, of Des Moines; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon with Pastor Tammy Anderson officiating. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Marathon is in charge of the arrangements.
